The article discusses different versions of the Polluter Pays Principle regarding the intragenerational nature of climate change. It argues, citing Cramton et al. 2017, that, under the Forward Looking PPP, at least part of the revenues accruing to developed countries from internalising the social cost of current and future emissions should be redistributed to developing countries in the form of climate finance. The largest part of national carbon tax revenues should be redistributed internationally, as most countries with high current or cumulative emissions are also less effected by climate change than developing countries, which are responisble for significantly fewer emissions.
